Being one of the first higher education entities to admit women, Roehampton has a strong academic history dating from the 1840s. Boasting a student community of over 110 nationalities, the university is committed to ensuring that students receive a truly globalized education during their time in London. Roehampton is the only traditional campus university in London. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with around 9,000 students from 140 different nationalities.

The campus offers excellent facilities, and a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved. The excellent international student experience at Roehampton is reflected by the University’s high rank in the internationally recognized .

The University of Roehampton is delighted to offer a wide variety of modules to students on the Study Abroad Program. You can choose your modules by going to the Study Abroad Module Catalogue . You can chose classes that relate to your major, minor or general education, as long as you meet any pre- or co-requisites.Updated module information for the upcoming academic year is usually made available by mid-April.

If you are coming in the fall, you should choose modules that end in an A (Autumn). If you are coming in the spring, you should choose modules that end in an S (Spring).
Modules can be selected up to a maximum of 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year. 10 UK credits are considered to be equivalent to 3 US credits/5 ECTS. 20 UK credits are considered to be equivalent to 4 or 5 US credits/10 ECTS.

You must seek approval for your programme of study from your home institution before commencing study at the University of Roehampton; it is your responsibility to make sure your home university will accept credit gained from each class. If you need any syllabi or other module information, please contact us.

Aside from the London Studies modules, all classes will be taken alongside full-degree University of Roehampton students to ensure you have plenty of opportunities to meet local students and fully integrate into campus life.

Accommodation and meals :
We aim to guarantee accommodation in one of our halls of residence for all study abroad students, provided you apply by the deadline. Rooms are single occupancy study bedrooms with shared kitchen facilities, internet connection and optional private bathrooms. There are plenty of cafes and diners on campus if you’re not sure of your culinary skills.
The goal of the University is to provide a living/learning environment which promotes academic and personal growth and a sense of community among students.
The Study Abroad team will apply for accommodation on your behalf. If you are to be invoiced directly for your accommodation costs, you will also need to apply via our online system. Further details will be sent to you nearer the time.

To help you immerse yourself in the cultural life of London and the UK during your time with us, we offer the Roehampton Abroad Social Programme. The schedule is updated each semester and full details are sent out once you have been offered a place on the Study Abroad programme.

In Spring 2016 events included trips to Greenwich, Oxford and the Cotswolds, a weekend trip to York, plus walking tours, theatre trips and more!

Academic credit 
For each semester of academic work completed abroad, you may earn up to 12 credit hours. Course credit transfers to S&T, but your grades will not appear on your S&T transcript and are not calculated into your grade point average. Courses abroad are recorded as a Pass or Fail and will shows an “ex” on your S&T transcript. Courses you pass will earn your credit hours toward your degree, but will not affect your GPA. Although you will receive credits for successfully completed courses, you must work with your academic advisers to get approval for how the courses you take might fulfill specific degree requirements at S&T.


 Roehampton is US style campus situated in south-west London, just south of the River Thames, in Zone 3.  The areas nearest the university are Hammersmith, Putney, Kingston, Richmond, Covent Garden, the South Bank, Soho and Westminster. Students will also be able to take advantage of the surrounding green space as Richmond Park, the largest of London's parks, and Wimbledon Common (the site of Wimbledon stadium) are within close proximity to the university campus.
Campus is only 30 minutes by train to the center of London.
