Jagiellon Univeristy (JU) is found in Krakow, Poland and is the oldest university in Poland. Jagiellonian University was founded on May 12, 1364 by the Polish king Casimir the Great. Casimir the Great founded this university to pursue higher education for Poland. This university managed to survive two world wars and the partitions of Prussia and Austria. Today it is made up of 16 facilities and 4,000 staff members.

There are over 50,000 students who attend JU and 80 different fields of study offered through the university. JU offers 140 undergraduate degree programs and 170 graduate programs.  There are about 150 student societies housed on this university where students pursue their academic interests and develop friendships. JU offers many activites for their students including membership in musical ensemble, academic theater, and sport associations. JU is also one of Poland's leading scientific institutions, which partners with other major academic institutions around the world.

JU is located in the heart of Krakow and it is the second largest city in Poland.
There are many activities to do in Krakow like visiting castles,
parks, and sightseeing. There are many historic buildings since Krakow is
one of the oldest towns in Poland.  There are also many theaters where plays
and operas are conducted. Throughout Poland there are also very many
sporting events held.The biggest sporting event is football,
but there is also a strong interest in running, rugby, and hockey.
