A bit about Hanyang University

Hanyang University is the successor of DongA Polytechnic Institute, which was established in 1939 despite the turbulent and repressive environment, resulting from Japan’s occupation of the peninsula (1910-1945). In 1959, the University became a comprehensive university. It has about 37,000 students in 22 colleges and 16 graduate schools, and is ranked 3rd best private University in Korea by the England’s “The Times World University Review,” (2009). There are 24,422 undergraduate students and 8,251 graduate students who attended as of April 1 2017. There are 4,198 faculty members and 934 staff members.

To continue the momentum of progress, Hanyang University has been striving to promote internationalization and consequently, over 1000 courses instructed in English per semester by about 150 foreign professors are now available. Also, through Hanyang University International Summer School which offers more than 70 courses taught in English from renowned educators, Hanyang University hosts more than 1200 students from all over the world. Efforts such as these have allowed Hanyang to recruit about 6000 international students, and the University also has formal relations with over 600 universities around the world.
